Indian Review of Global Affairs

Indian Review of Global Affairs is a research arm of Symbiosis School of International Studies and was launched in July 2016, as a single point to integrate and incorporate the research activities and projects pertaining to the issues of the contemporary world. It was cast with the aim of inculcating strategic thinking in a manner which involves the academia, corporates, policy makers, and the civil society. The research house is based in Pune, a city in western India, which combines a rich cultural heritage with a modern pace. Four major verticals have been identified for research and policy review: Security and Defence, Make in India, Education and Culture, Sustainable Development. The platform will showcase research regarding mid-to-long level policy relevant issues and serve as a knowledge repository. Symbiosis School of International Studies, through its various activities and events like seminars, policy dialogues and the annual International Relations Conference, will produce short reports, policy briefs, opinion columns, and presentations to inform public opinion and policy- makers. As part of its long-term goal, Symbiosis School of International Studies aims to develop innovative research agendas, databases, publications to disseminate analyses to relevant audiences through print and digital media.

Inspired by the ideals of 'Vishwa Bharati' of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and 'Antar Bharati' of Sane Guruji and with a deep desire to help foreign students, an idea of 'Symbiosis' was conceived by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar in the year 1971. The motto of Symbiosis is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and truly for the foreign students at Pune it is a 'Home away from Home'.

Symbiosis today comprises of 46 institutes imparting training in diverse disciplines. It has students who hail from all states of India and more than 85 different countries. Symbiosis is known to be a Multicultural, Multilingual and Multinational institution. An institution, where academic democracy prevails. Where law is the religion and freedom of thought and expression is the spirit. Where equality is not preached but practiced. Where Innovation, Passion and Compassion is nurtured.

SSIS is a new addition to the Symbiosis family and is poised to be at the forefront of research & education. With its area study focus, the school will provide widespread opportunity for research, consultancy, policy framing as well as post graduate teaching.

The SSIS unfolds the opportunity to examine and critically evaluate such issues of the contemporary world.
